WHY WE DEVELOPED APPCAN

We’ve worked with mobile technology for more than 20 years. And in that time we’ve  been in your position too, as consumers. So we know software development costs can be prohibitive, as can having to spend valuable time dealing with developers. We knew we could do better.

With this in mind, we set about making a simple, cost-effective product that could be easily customised to meet the needs of any business with people working in the field. It also had to be easy to use for non-technical people. Something that would help with data collection but could also act as a real extension to the office or headquarters. It needed to be secure to protect valuable data. And lastly, it had to work on existing hardware.

With AppCan, we think we’ve cracked it.

AppCan launched in 2013, but our commitment to ongoing system development has not stopped – over the last seven years we have added many new customer-led features and enhancements, upgraded security and improved overall usability.

MEET THE APPCAN FOUNDERS

JOHN ANDERSON – CEO & DIRECTOR

John graduated as a Civil Engineer, entering the construction industry in the late 80’s, and via a career predominantly within the UK Utility Construction industry, have created a technology business within the mobile data management sector.

His career has been shaped by positions held in Transportation and Plant Management, Procurement, Operations and Data Management.

With his experience and industry knowledge in Utility Construction, John helps businesses implement AppCan across their field team operations.

BOYD NEAL – CTO & DIRECTOR

Boyd has over 25 years experience in delivering logistic-based solutions, such as field mobility, scheduling, works management and telematic systems. You could say he has grown up with mobile technology so his role at AppCan, implementing low-cost mobile solutions to a field-based workforce, is a natural progression.

Boyd specialises in the use of mobile to secure productivity improvements and increase levels of compliance, cost reduction and risk mitigation –  all the while reducing the impact of construction activities upon the environment.
