Back in March we enabled a facility to re-direct records, submitted by one user, to another user, or users.  We called this ‘P2M’ – ‘Portal to Mobile’. It proved a huge success with both users and clients.

However, your appetite (and ours!) for ease and efficiency is insatiable, and soon our users asked, ‘Can’t we simply import the records (we have lots of them) we wish to send to our users?’

So, we got thinking: configuring efficient tools to capture mobile data is crucial and getting data quickly and easily from the AppCan cloud is also essential, but perhaps we need to focus some attention on how to get data INTO AppCan; especially in a bulk.

Consequently, we rose to your challenge and have released a new feature – a universal ‘Data Loader’. Excel workbooks containing rows and rows of data to pre-populate records can now be called in via an ‘Add Record’ button, present on every data collector you have created. If required, you can add ad-hoc single records too.

And as with everything AppCan, we make importing an unfussy, uncomplicated process; for example, you can download an import template where all the column headings are prepopulated, along with guidance on what format each field type is expected to be imported as. If you do get it wrong, there’s lots of clear feedback on which bit of the import is causing a problem.

Scheduling pre-populated task instructions to your field-force is now within your grasp.  Wait, did someone say, ‘what about auto-dispatch?’ That’s another level of sophistication entirely; but at AppCan, we are always up to the challenge, so watch this space!
